The Royal Library of Belgium

Tucked just beside Mont des Arts, the Royal Library of Belgium (also known as KBR) is a great place to slow down and discover something unexpected. It might not be the most famous stop in Brussels, but it’s definitely one of the most peaceful and interesting.

Inside, you’ll find exhibitions that explore everything from medieval manuscripts to modern Belgian culture. The real highlight? The KBR Museum, which showcases the stunning illuminated manuscripts from the Library of the Dukes of Burgundy—true treasures of European history.

The building itself is worth a visit too, with quiet reading rooms, creative exhibits, and even a rooftop café with a view over the city. It’s perfect if you want a dose of culture without the crowds.
