Smag &amp; Behag Kristiansand is an eatery that focus on high-quality food, local ingredients, and good flavors. The restaurant opened in the summer of 2020 in the completely renovated gymnasium of the old Kongensgate school in Kristiansand. The atmosphere is fantastic, and this is the perfect place to bring a date or to celebrate an anniversary.



If you are a wine-lover we definitely recommend that you take a trip down to the wine cellar. Here you will find a wide selection of high quality wines.

Probably the oldest pub in town! At Telfords Pub, you can please your tastebuds with a craft beer from Qvart Ølkompani in Lund. If you’re lucky, you will get to enjoy your pint to the sound of the locals singing along to traditional songs.

By the “entrance” to Odderøya, you will find this fish pier with excellent restaurants and a lovely atmosphere. You can also pick your own mussels, shrimps, crabs, or fish in the fish market. 



Are you a music enthusiast? During summer, they have live concerts every Tuesday. In December you can enjoy the decorated pier with beautiful Christmas lights. If you are lucky, you might see Santa Clause as well!

“Fiskebrygga” – The Fish Pier

Kristiansand Zoo is Norway&#8217;s most frequently visited attraction! The park is divided into different themes, and you can observe all kinds of animals, from the Scandinavian wilderness to more exotic animals like lions and elephants.



Besides all the animals, there is also a wide variety of amusement attractions, as well as different shows to attend. The integrated aqua park contains several pools and water slides. You can catch a bus from the hotel in Kristiansand that will take you to the park in less than 20 minutes.

Kristiansand Zoo – Dyreparken

If you&#8217;re in Kristiansand with kids and looking for an active and fun day outdoors, we really recommend Høyt &amp; Lavt Climbing Park. It&#8217;s set in a beautiful forest area and has climbing courses for all levels. Everything from easy routes for small kids to more challenging trails and ziplines for older children and adults. The safety routines are solid, and the staff are great at making everyone feel comfortable before they start.



What we loved most is that it is really fun for the whole family! We can almost guarantee that you&#8217;ll enjoy it, whether you are visiting with children or not. There’s also a small café for snacks and coffee when you need a break. A perfect way to combine nature, activity, and quality time!

Høyt & Lavt climbing park

How about starting your day with a little walk? When you stay at Citybox Kristiansand you are so close that you can see the start of the beautiful Baneheia park.



There are several hiking opportunities on rambling paths and lighted trails. Go for a swim in one of the three “stampers” or try out your fishing luck in the same lakes. You will have a great view over the city center and the fjord from some of the looking points. You can also walk through Baneheia and end up in the beautiful nature park Ravnedalen.

Whether you&#8217;re belting out 90s bangers like you&#8217;re headlining Oslo Spektrum or mumbling ABBA like you&#8217;re hiding from someone at the office, Javel delivers. It’s the kind of place where the lighting is low, the bartenders are quick with a pour, and the crowd feels like distant cousins at a family reunion. What more could you want?

Ravnedalen is a beautiful park beneath the steep and magnificent Ravneheia. The natural surroundings cannot only be seen in pictures, you just have to experience it yourself. Ravnedalen har well-preserved trees, monuments, bridges and small houses. 



During summer, the park is home to frequent concerts, festivals, and theatre productions. Ravnedalen is also home to the cozy “Cafe Generalen,” where you can enjoy homemade hamburgers, salads and soups.

Up for some shopping while visiting Kristiansand? Sørlandssenteret is among the largest shopping centers in Northern Europe. It lies 12 km east of Kristiansand, close to the popular «Dyreparken». The mall has expanded several times and has almost 200 different shops!



If you get hungry, there is no need to worry. At Sørlandssenteret you will find a wide selection of cozy cafés, restaurants and even a smoothie bar!

If you’re in Kristiansand and enjoy art or architecture, Kunstsilo is definitely worth a visit. Housed in a beautifully transformed grain silo on Odderøya, it’s now one of the most exciting modern art museums in the Nordics. The space itself is impressive, with towering concrete silos integrated into sleek, modern galleries. Inside, you’ll find a mix of Nordic modernism from the Tangen Collection, contemporary exhibitions, and creative installations that change throughout the year.



Its fun for the whole family with interactive exhibits and workshops, so its definitely worth a visit when you are in town. PS: Don&#8217;t miss the rooftop views!

Kunstsilo at Odderøya

Arkivet is an education and documentation center, located in an authentic WW2 Gestapo Headquarter. The center studies how the retelling of our local history from World War II can help create attitudes, knowledge, and understanding to secure the basis for lasting peace and democracy.

Check-in is from 15:00, and check-out time is 12:00. If you want to stay a little longer, let us know. You can stay (by request) until 14:00 for free in a double room if you are a Citybox Friend. If you want to stay even longer, you’ll, unfortunately, need to pay for another night as we need time to clean the room before the next guest. You can store luggage with us outside of these hours in our luggage room in the lobby.

What is the check-in & check-out time?

Regional bus: This will take you to the hotel in about 40-50 minutes. Get off at Tollbodgata Q, and the hotel is a 7-minute walk away.  



Taxi: The taxi queue is right outside the airport and will take you to the hotel in about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. The prices will vary, so asking for a fixed price is smart.



Ridel: Ridel is a more affordable taxi service offering only electric cars. Download their app and use the discount code CITYBOX when ordering to get a 10% discount. 



We do recommend choosing regional bus or Ridel for a more sustainable travel.

How do I get to the hotel from the airport?

Yes! Our luggage storage is open for all guests before check-in and after check-out. Simply use the terminals to get a keycard for the luggage room. Please note that luggage is stored at the guest&#8217;s own risk. And as always, if you need help ask our hosts at the hotel!

Can I store my luggage at the hotel?

If you need to wash your clothes, there is a self-service laundromat located on the same level as the lobby, next to the guest kitchen. Washing detergent is included in the price, card payments only. The price is 75 NOK for washing and 75 NOK for drying. Open from 09:00 to 21:00.

Is there a laundry room at the hotel?

Breakfast is not included. Coffee and snacks can be purchased at the vending machines in the lobby. We also have a guest kitchen equipped with a microwave oven and kettles, so you are able to prepare your own breakfast.

Is breakfast included in my booking?

Unfortunately, we don’t have our own parking facilities, but you can use street parking or Slottet Parking Garage, which is located close to the hotel.

Where can I park my car?

You can bring your furry family member for an extra 15€/200NOK/200SEK per stay; just let us know in advance. We can’t wait to have them stay with us! We do love all animals, but we must put a leash on it and stick to only one dog or cat per room.

Can I bring my dog?

Of course! Extra towels, a water kettle, and extra pillows are available in our Citybox Host Office on the ground floor.

Can I get extra towels?

We don&#8217;t clean your room every day. Housekeeping is done after check-out and once a week during longer stays. This helps us keep our prices low and is also a big plus for the environment! Extra cleaning can be ordered for a small fee, just stop by the Host Office.

Does my room get cleaned every day?

TV is available along with books and board games on the ground floor. We do have free (and fast) Wi-Fi so you can stream Netflix in your room on your laptop or iPad!

Does my room have a TV?

We have free Wi-Fi for all our guests; no secret codes or passwords are required! Just connect and surf away.

Does your hotel have Wi-Fi?

We may be budget-friendly, but we don’t skimp on the essentials! Leave your towels and sheets at home; we’ve got you covered.

Should I bring my own sheets? 

We gladly accept Visa and Mastercard as payment options both on our website and in the hotels. For prepaid bookings, we also offer Apple Pay. 



We do not accept American Express as a payment option, but we do accept it as a guarantee on our website. 



Cash payment is accepted across all of our hotels (except for Citybox Helsinki), but you need a valid credit or debit card as a guarantee. This card doesn&#8217;t get charged (unless something unexpected happens); It&#8217;s primarily intended for security reasons.

Which payment options do you accept?

After you book your stay, you will receive a booking confirmation, including a booking number. When you check in, type in your booking number on our check-in terminal, make your payment, and you will receive your key card and room number.



When checking out, type in your booking reference, and leave your key card in the box next to the terminal.

How do I check in and out?

Our hotel room doors take up to 60 seconds to lock automatically due to safety reasons. All hotels in Norway have a special regulation for this. But don’t worry, if you’re in a hurry, tap your key card on the door, and it will lock right away.
