We recommend the Chili Tuna (the pickled Chili is to die for!) if you are going the sandwich route, or the Sweet potato feta (add chicken if you want some extra protein) if you&#8217;re craving a bowl. 



You can also sit and enjoy your meal in the café, just know that there are limited seats. It is located just a few minutes walk from the hotel, but they have several locations in Oslo if you are out exploring.

Der Peppern Gror is an authentic Indian restaurant, the closest one being only a 13 minute walk from the hotel &#8211; or a 9 minute ride with the tram. 



From the minute you walk through the door, you&#8217;ll see that they have made a real effort to create the perfect Indian vibe. But the menu is where they really impress. Apart from the classic Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala, you can also explore the more authentic side of India if you order e.g the Gol Gappe or the Daal Makhni. Pair it all with the delicious Indian beers (or wines), and you&#8217;ll have the perfect Indian night. We also recommend you try at least one of their Naan breads. After all, it is mandatory when eating at a Indian restaurant.

Lorry&#8217; has been both a cultural pub and restaurant since 1870. Its been run by the same family for 60 years through 3 generations. If you want to experience Oslo the old-school way, Lorry is not to be missed. A lot of memories are made here!



Surrounded by quirky, antique &amp; mythical interiors, you can enjoy traditional fish &amp; chips, reindeer cake, tartar, chevre salad, or just a cold beer and some people-watching from the cozy outdoor seating area.

Ramen! Pretty cheap! Very yummy! Hrimnir makes ramen dishes with an emphasis on top-quality noodles made of wheat. The restaurant is in close contact with its suppliers and farmers that make the produce. You will get a big bowl of tasty ramen, all made with different umami sauces and various toppings. For a quick drop-in, you can eat by the window or book a table for a longer stay with main dishes, desserts, and drinks.

BonBon is a cozy, newly opened cafe is located in Bjørvika, only 10 minutes from Citybox. Its specialties are real American bagels and pancakes with different toppings and spreads. The flavors really melt in your mouth, and it&#8217;s definitely worth a visit. Perfect for a late breakfast or lunch!

Looking for a place to brunch? Then Holzweiler Platz is the place for you! If you&#8217;re visiting the place when the weather is good, we recommend you try the outdoor seating. 



Most of the menu is organic, and they change it along with the seasons, so its definitely a place worth visiting more than once! We recommend the avocado toast or maybe the Pork Shawarma. And remember to add something sweet on the side. A dessert just makes a brunch so much better. 



Whether you&#8217;re drinking mimosas with your brunch or prefer a coffee instead, you are guaranteed to find something you like!

Discover KUMI, an organic brunch cafe located in both Gamlebyen and Oslobukta in Oslo. Their menu features a fusion of clean, vegetarian, and vegan &#8220;comfort food&#8221; served in a Japanese and Nordic-inspired, modern atmosphere. This authentic Italian restaurant is located just a few minutes walk from the hotel and is definitely worth the visit! Whether you order a fresh dish of pasta or one of their delicious pizzas, you are bound to end up with a smile on your face and full belly. 



The classic Tagliatelle al Ragu will bring water in your mouth before the fork even reaches it, but you really can&#8217;t go wrong with anything you order. 



The restaurant doesn&#8217;t take reservations, but meet up at the restaurant and you might just be lucky enough to get a table. You can also put yourself on a list for the next available table!

Breakfast or dinner? Tranen has both! With two concepts in one place, an airy French bistro scene with a centerpiece disco ball, you can observe plenty of Oslo hipsters while you gobble on some tasty goods. During the day, you can eat pastries, sandwiches, or pancakes from Åpent Bakeri, and at 16:00, the historical space morphs into a pizzeria. You can choose between red or white pizza, such as buffalo mozzarella from Italian cheese producers and Salsiccia sausage from local butchers in Stavanger. Maybe the best pizza in town?

Lofthus Samvirkelag Tranen

If you visit Norway, you are not allowed to leave before you eat fish. Fiskeriet is just the place with a long history of fish &amp; seafood in Oslo. In 2010 Fiskeriet took over for the local fish hero for over 75 years, Erling Moe. They proudly continue his legacy of selling seafood in the same store in central Oslo. Buy fresh produce from the counter, or relish in celebrated dishes such as fish soup, bacalao, or oysters, maybe combined with a nice glass of white whine? It&#8217;s a yes from us.

Struggling to decide on the cuisine of the day? At Mathallen, you have plenty of options with over 30 specialty stores. You can find everything from French delicacies at Grains, and Asian tapas at Atelier, to a coffee concept store at Solberg &amp; Hansen. You can bring home fresh fish produce from Vulkanfish, devour tasty gelato from Paradis, or ask the bartender at Hopyard to recommend the latest craft beer. Win-win-win.

From time to time, we should all take pleasure in classical Italian cuisine. A staircase up from Håndslag, you will find Girotondo, a family-run business with a focus on hearty service. It is folksy and down-to-earth, designed as a cafeteria with large tables that you share with other guests. If you crave an intimate and casual ambiance with good food and nice prices, this is for you. Maybe you can book a whole table for an evening out with your friends or family? P.S. Make sure to book a table a few days ahead; these guys are busy!

If you like Thai-food and don&#8217;t want to go too far from the hotel, Rice Bowl is the perfect choice! 



They have a wide variety of dishes and basically everything we&#8217;ve tried has been delicious. We highly recommend the Kai Phad Khing, the taste of ginger really is a treat for your taste buds.

You know those small and intense bars they always use in films when they are in need of a statement smoking scene? Well at Merkur Bar you&#8217;ll find it. This is Oslo&#8217;s hidden pearl, disguised in a side street at St. Hanshaugen. It is one of those places someone usually has to tell you about. Unless they don&#8217;t want you to know about it of course. Amongst the beautiful interior from the 30s, inspired by Japanese influences and showcasing original artwork by Kumi Sugai, you can try out some natural wine &amp; sake. Stylish and understated, this is for the eclectic and David-Lynch-vibey crowd (don&#8217;t tell them we said that.)

If you like the sound of cocktails and good music a little less on the modern side, this is the place to go for a calmer evening out. During the day, you can swing by for a coffee, read a book, or chat with the interesting clientele. 



Meyers is lowkey, but also a slightly fancy neighborhood bar at the top of Grünerløkka. Classical drinks are made new and refreshing. Enjoy them in a homey and cinematic environment designed for a relaxing time.

Up for something a little different, sweet, and a lot of fun? Take a short train trip out of the city, and go for a guided walk with alpacas! For the kind price of NOK 395, you will walk through the Norwegian farm landscape, responsible for, and in the good company of your own cute alpaca, for instance, &#8216;Edvard&#8217;, or &#8216;Hugo&#8217;. All the alpacas have different names and personalities; all are very friendly, mild, and curious beings! Free for ages 0-2.

In Slemdal, you can find a well-kept secret worth searching for. Mystical, historical, and dramatic all at once, the museum&#8217;s main attraction is a dark, barrel-vaulted room with walls covered in fresco paintings. The 800-square-meter painting Vita showcases human life from conception to death in often explicitly erotic scenes. A remarkable sight and out of the ordinary. The museum is open every Sunday, and booking tickets online ahead of time is recommended.

An exciting and unique day for the kids? Farm life is an essential part of Norwegian history and culture! Ekebergsletta is easily accessible and only 10 minutes from Oslo central, you can visit an animal farm especially made for families with children. The philosophy: horses and other animals should be a joy for people in the city! Go for a horseback ride, or interact closely with the farm&#8217;s different animals, such as goats, rabbits, and chickens. Have fun!

For an affordable way to enjoy a &#8216;city break,&#8217; join the locals and hop on the ferry. With a Ruter day pass, you can travel from island to island with the same ferry. Explore some historic ruins at Hovedøya, or treat yourself to a sunny picnic and swim at Langøyene. With six islands to choose from, each with its own distinct character, it makes for the perfect outdoor day experience.

The harbor has become an essential area for the people of Oslo to enjoy themselves and soak in the city culture literally. At KOK, you can go for a spontaneous drop-in morning sauna session or go all-in and rent a floating sauna with a dedicated driver who will show you around the fjord while you jump in and heat up nicely afterward. Make sure to try this experience if you want to feel like a true Oslo citizen!

KOK Oslo – The floating sauna experience

This is the latest and most talked about cultural house in our city. You can find it by the Alna River in the part of the city called Gamlebyen, &#8220;the old town.&#8221; A little bit outside of the city and close to nature, it is a good place to unwind. Fancy an early yoga session? A pottery class? An intimate concert with up-and-coming artists? Kruttverket has unique events, a gallery, with more. You can also stop by for a coffee or some food. In the winter we recommend that you enjoy a warm fire while you gaze at the beautiful river.

Just a short walking distance from Citybox, you can find a large museum dedicated to Edvard Munch, a famous Norwegian painter. Four years before his death, he gifted Oslo commune over 28.000 artworks. The brand new museum of 2021 has over 13 floors and is truly worth a visit for anyone with an interest in art and art history. No prior knowledge is needed. The large-scale paintings, photographs, or other art installations are enjoyable for all! Young, old, and families! Maybe finish the tour with a drink at the rooftop bar?

Munch Museum

SALT started as an art project with large pyramid constructions rented out for exhibitions and events and has eventually turned into a never-ending &#8216;festival&#8217; down at the harbor. You can come to SALT for all your creative needs, such as concerts, films, events, talks, stand-up shows, exhibitions, speed dates, with more. You can also have dinner from one of the many food stalls or try the large pyramid sauna with cold outdoor pools and a view of the Opera and fjord. It is the perfect place to enjoy a full day of Oslo culture!

SALT – Art & Music

We highly recommend seeing a show at The Norwegian National Opera &amp; Ballet! It is an exciting venue of amazing performances, such as ballets, contemporary dance performances, symphony concerts, with more. Sometimes, they also put on shows outside and on top of the Opera House roof. The roof is otherwise always free and open for the public, and you can walk on top of it to enjoy the fjord view!

The Norwegian Opera and Ballet

Being the world&#8217;s largest sculpture park, this is a must-see! With an early introduction to the Italian Renaissance, Gustav Vigeland eventually found his own inspired but still unique style and has made over 200 large-scale sculptures in granite, bronze, and iron. The sculptures were installed mainly in the period of 1940-1949, but show his life work for over 40 years. All sculptures show a beautiful depiction of humanity. Start at the Fountain, then move towards the Monolith and the Bridge. Free &amp; always open!

This former island naval base has idyllic paths, small beaches, and old canon positions. Here you will find Kilden Theater and Concert Hall, a climbing park, and concert venues. 



Kilden is the home of Agder Regional Theatre, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Sør (the regional opera company). The center also hosts an array of other cultural events. Kilden is Southern Norway&#8217;s cultural powerhouse, moving and enthusing audiences.

Check-in is from 15:00, and check-out time is 12:00. If you want to stay a little longer, let us know. You can stay (by request) until 14:00 for free in a double room if you are a Citybox Friend. If you want to stay even longer, you’ll, unfortunately, need to pay for another night as we need time to clean the room before the next guest. You can store luggage with us outside of these hours in our luggage room in the lobby.

What is the check-in & check-out time?

Airport Express Train (Flytoget): This option is fast and efficient. Follow the signs to the Airport Express Train station within the airport. Take the train towards Oslo Central Station (Oslo S). Departure is every 10 minutes, and the ride takes about 20-25 minutes. Citybox Hotel Oslo is within walking distance or a short tram ride from Oslo S.



Regional train: This is a more affordable option. It takes you to the city center in about 25-30 minutes. Get off at Oslo S; the hotel is a 5-minute walk away.&nbsp;&nbsp;



Taxi: The taxi queue is right outside the airport and will take you to the hotel in about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. The prices will vary, so it&#8217;s a good idea to ask for a fixed price. We do, however, recommend taking the train as it&#8217;s much more sustainable, plus nicer to your wallet!

How do I get to the hotel from the airport?

Yes! Our luggage storage is open for all guests before check-in and after check-out. Simply use the terminals to get a keycard for the luggage room. Please note that luggage is stored at the guest&#8217;s own risk. And as always, if you need help ask our hosts at the hotel!

Can I store my luggage at the hotel?

Breakfast is not included. Coffee and snacks can be purchased at the vending machines in the lobby. We also have a guest kitchen equipped with a microwave oven, toasters, and kettles, so you are able to prepare your own breakfast. You are also welcome to buy breakfast at one of the restaurants connected to our lobby.

Is breakfast included?

If you need to wash your clothes, there is a self-service laundromat located on the same level as the lobby, next to the guest kitchen. Washing detergent is included in the price, card payments only. The laundry room is open from 09:00 to 21:00.

Unfortunately, we don’t have our own parking facilities, but parking is available in Bankplassen P-hus, just a three-minute walk from the hotel. Happy parking!

Where can I park my car?

TV is available along with books and board games on the ground floor. We do have free (and fast) Wi-Fi so you can stream Netflix in your room on your laptop or iPad!

Does my room have a TV?

You can bring your furry family member for an extra 15€/200NOK/200SEK per stay; just let us know in advance. We can’t wait to have them stay with us! We do love all animals, but we must put a leash on it and stick to only one dog or cat per room.

Can I bring my dog?

Of course! Extra towels, a water kettle, and extra pillows are available in our Citybox Host Office on the ground floor.

Can I get extra towels?

We don&#8217;t clean your room every day. Housekeeping is done after check-out and once a week during longer stays. This helps us keep our prices low and is also a big plus for the environment! Extra cleaning can be ordered for a small fee, just stop by the Host Office.

Does my room get cleaned every day?

We have free Wi-Fi for all our guests; no secret codes or passwords are required! Just connect and surf away.

Should I bring my own sheets? 

At Citybox Hotels, we believe in making sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. That’s why all our rooms are equipped with a comfy bed, a desk and chair, and a modern bathroom with soap, shampoo, and a hairdryer. Some of the rooms also have a small seating area for you to kick back and relax and make yourself at home.

What does my room include?

They are amazing, right? We get our beds from <a href="http://www.hildinganders.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.hildinganders.com</a> which usually only delivers to hotels. However, they carry different brands, and the Jensen bed would be equivalent to the beds we have at the hotel.

Where are the beds from?

First off, we are super happy that you’d like to book a stay with us! Unfortunately, you must be over 18 years old to check into Citybox without adult supervision. But don’t worry; we’ll be here waiting for you!

How old do I have to be to stay with you?

Our hotel room doors take up to 60 seconds to lock automatically due to safety reasons. All hotels in Norway have a special regulation for this. But don’t worry, if you’re in a hurry, tap your key card on the door, and it will lock right away.

How do I lock my door?

After you book your stay, you will receive a booking confirmation, including a booking number. When you check in, type in your booking number on our check-in terminal, make your payment, and you will receive your key card and room number.



When checking out, type in your booking reference, and leave your key card in the box next to the terminal.

How do I check in and out?

We gladly accept Visa and Mastercard as payment options both on our website and in the hotels. For prepaid bookings, we also offer Apple Pay. 



We do not accept American Express as a payment option, but we do accept it as a guarantee on our website. 



Cash payment is accepted across all of our hotels (except for Citybox Helsinki), but you need a valid credit or debit card as a guarantee. This card doesn&#8217;t get charged (unless something unexpected happens); It&#8217;s primarily intended for security reasons.

Which payment options do you accept?

If you want to add a member to your sleepover, it will cost €15/NOK200 for an extra bed and must be pre-ordered by phone.

What does an extra bed cost?

Our hotel is Green Key-certified. This means that we have made conscious choices to do what we can to make the hotel more sustainable. You can read more <a href="/sustainability">here.</a>

Is the hotel eco-certified?

Tap water in Norway is considered excellent quality and is safe to drink anywhere in the country unless stated otherwise.

Is the water safe to drink?

Oslo Bysykkel (City bike) has bicycle stations all over the city. You can rent a bike from one station and leave it at the closest station to your destination. The closest station to our hotel is in Kirkegata, around 2 minutes away. You can get more information at oslobysykkel.no.

Can I rent a bike?

The closest park to the hotel is Slottsparken, where you also can find The Royal Castle. The park is very popular during the summer for both tourists and Oslo citizens. 



Frognerparken is a bit further away but is one of the most well-known parks in Oslo. It is also the home of the sculpture park, Vigelandsparken, and the famous Frognerbadet. Frognerbadet is a family-friendly waterpark with slides and a diving board in the middle of the park.

Are there any parks nearby?

If you&#8217;re looking for a beach in Oslo, we recommend Sørenga Sjøbad, Tjuvholmen City Beach, and Huk.



Huk is a blue-flag certified beach, so it&#8217;s a win-win! It&#8217;s both positive for the environment and a lovely beach to spend a hot summer day.
