The menu for Colonialen Kranen is created using local seasonal ingredients and will give you a result of high-quality dining. The kitchen loves to surprise you with tasty, playful dishes and unexpected flavor combinations. 



The restaurant is centrally located in Solheimsviken and is the coziest spot when the rain is pouring outside and gives Copenhagen-vibes on sunny days.

Colonialen Kranen

One of our top-pics in Bergen! At this cozy bistro, they change the menu daily but always have a fish dish, a meat dish and good selection of vegetarian dishes. They also have wonderfully good small dishes such as falafel with hummus, grilled vegetables and tomatoes with feta and hazelnuts. It&#8217;s a bit hard to pinpoint the exact cuisine. It just feels like they make whatever they like &#8211; and it works!



If you&#8217;re a group, we recommend you ask the waiter to put together a tasting menu. You won&#8217;t be disappointed.

Allmuen

One of the best restaurant experiences you can get in Bergen is Restaurant 1877. This is a place for foodies that have an above-average interest in food and wine. The menu focuses on local, seasonal ingredients and is based on Norwegian food culture.



Throughout the visit, you&#8217;ll experience historical-cultural references in the use of food, dishes, cutlery, and decanters.



We recommend a 5-course menu with a wine package for a fantastic experience. A bit pricy, we know, but worth it.

1877

Fløyen is a must-do while in Bergen. Fløibanen, the funicular, brings you up the hillside, from Bergen city center to the top of the mountain in 6 minutes. At Mount Fløyen, you will find beautiful views of Bergen, the nearby islands, fjords, and the mountains surrounding Bergen. Fløyen is a great destination for hiking, mountain biking, and soft adventures. Fløien Folkerestaurant is open daily from May until September. You can also buy snacks and a beer once you reach the top! 



The directions mark the start of the funicular, but you can also hike to the top.

Mount Fløyen and the Funicular

If you&#8217;re in Bergen and the weather is good, going to Mount Ulriken is an absolute must! You can either hike up or take the cable car up the mountainside. From the top, you get the most beautiful view of Bergen, and there is also a restaurant that serves both light snacks and a full sit-down dinner. 



If you like hiking, we recommend hiking up or down to get the full experience. You can take the Ulriken bus (it costs about 100kr for a round trip) or public transport. If you choose public transport, you can take Bybanen line 2 from the center to Haukeland Hospital or bus no. 5 or 6 from Festplassen, 12 from Olav Kyrres gate, or 16E from Xhibition. 



Get off at the Haukeland Hospital stop C and D. Follow the signs from there, approximately 10 minutes. And go!

Mount Ulriken

Dinner with a view? Skyskraperen is a restaurant, located on the top of Mount Ulriken in Bergen, is an experience in and of itself. You might guess that the English translation of its name is the Skyscraper, aptly named as you will dine on top of a sea of clouds if the weather is right. 



You can either take a cable car from the mountain&#8217;s base or hike up there if you are feeling sporty. Fine dining at its most spectacular!

Skyskraperen

A relatively new and very popular restaurant in Bergen that serves Italian food. From our experience, we haven&#8217;t tried anything we didn&#8217;t like!



It is located in the cozy &#8220;Skostredet&#8221; and has a nice outside terrace in addition to the inside space. This place is golden year-round.



The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is top-notch. We recommend you book well in advance or be prepared to stand in line. They have a few tables for drop-in, but there is usually a queue.

Villani

Hands down the best sushi in Bergen. Nama is known for its excellent service, the good-looking venue, and the quality of the kitchen. The restaurant combines good ingredients and simple preparation into a completely unique taste experience. 



The food is based on sharing, and they have great drinks. They have Japanese robatayaki cuisine, Izakaya, and a sushi bar. Perfect place to bring your date if you want to impress someone.

The scene is set on a table adorned with an assortment of delectable treats. In the center of the table lies a plate of sushi. The sushi roll is garnished with a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds and topped with decadent caviar. To accompany the delectable sushi, a refreshing drink awaits.

Nama

A well-known seafood restaurant located on an island right outside Bergen called Bjorøy. The restaurant serves high-quality seafood from the day&#8217;s catch, and the view from the restaurant tops it off. 



To get there, you can travel by boat if you happen to have one, or get the boat trip from the center of Bergen included when you book. This might sound complicated, but it&#8217;s not &#8211; and the food is worth it! It&#8217;s a 25-minute boat ride from the city center, and you can enjoy a drink to make the time pass.



Cornelius is the place to go to if you want a complete experience. Want to celebrate an anniversary? Cornelius is the place! Want to propose to someone? Cornelius is the place! Just want a delicious meal with a fantastic view? Who would have guessed; Cornelius is also the place!

Craving burgers? We want to go as far as saying that Bien Snackbar serves probably the best burgers at Danmarksplass! In addition to traditional burgers like cheeseburgers and hamburgers, they have experimented with more original flavors like bbq burgers, chili burgers, and (our personal favourite) goat cheeseburgers. With a great selection of beer on tap and a cozy atmosphere, Bien Snackbar is an absolute must. We recommend the parmesan fries and if you have a sweet tooth &#8211; one of the &#8220;adult&#8221; milkshakes for desserts.

At the Bergen Aquarium, you can study a colorful and exciting range of fish, watch the otters and other animals get food, and watch 360-degree films in Domen, Storsalen. 



The nice thing about the Aquarium is that you can be both indoors and outdoors. There is also a large playground on the roof. Children and adults alike at Bergen Aquarium can see, read about, and follow the animals and aquarium keepers at close range. You can watch shows and feedings and see how fish and animals act when in their element.

A new and trendy eatery that focuses on brunch, and oh boy, the brunch is good!



The menu consists of various set menus inspired by famous cities, e.g., Brooklyn Brunch or Brisbane Brunch. With the set menus, you get several small dishes named and a small dessert. So good! They also have regular sandwiches and other smaller dishes, but we recommend trying the set menus.



Bergen Brunch is the perfect place for brunch and bubbles. A good tip is to order a table before you get there, as they are often fully booked.

A delectable feast awaits on a wooden table, surrounded by plates filled with a variety of food. The spread includes a succulent bowl of shrimp adorned with dill, a plate of vibrant green salad teeming with fresh tomatoes and lettuce, and a collection of mouth-watering dishes. Close by, a glass of water glistens, reflecting the soft ambient light. A slice of freshly baked white bread completes the scene, adding a touch of simplicity and comfort to the enticing display.

Bergen Brunch

Looking for a kid-friendly activity near the hotel? Then we recommend you check out Bergen Science Center(Vilvite Senteret)! Explore their extensive science exhibition, play with water canons, explore nature cycles, or learn how the body functions. Taking the kiddos to VilVite is a perfect activity for rainy days.

Up for a hike while you stay in Bergen? This one is just outside our doorstep(literally, the trip starts in our neighborhood)! Løvstakken is part of the 7-mountains surrounding Bergen and will give you a great view of the outer coastline, &#8220;Skjærgård,&#8221; of Bergen, towards the north sea. Psst, the address below is for the top of Mount Løvstakken. 



So if you want some fresh air and to see the nature in Bergen, Løvstakken is a great choice. One extra tip: There are many paths up and down from the mountain. Make sure you choose the right one!

Mount Løvstakken

Here you will find the healthiest and heartiest lunch in town!



They have a selection of excellent soups(meat, vegetarian and vegan), in addition to salads. You can compose the salads yourself, and they make a salad base with fresh spinach, which they mix with a delicious mango dressing.



In addition to delicious soups and salads, they also have coffee, matcha, golden milk, and a selection of raw cakes.

The scene showcases a delectable display of culinary delights, brimming with various vegetables and rice. The focus is on a large bowl overflowing with vibrant vegetables and fluffy grains, serving as the centerpiece of the composition.

Daily Pot

This may seem like an odd recommendation, but if you want to try something different, you need to test the PBJ at Smakverket. Why go for a simple PBJ, you might ask? Because there is nothing simple about it. 



They make the sandwich with peanut butter, apricot jelly (all normal so far), fried egg, bacon, and topped with hot sauce and coriander!! It&#8217;s simply the perfect sandwich for a hangover. There are rumors that they tried to take it off the menu some time back, but after many complaints, they had to put it back on.



Their Eggs Benedict are also quite good, but trust us &#8211; the PBJ won&#8217;t disappoint!

Smakverket

Cafe Ambrosia is one of those iconic little cafés that you just have to experience. Just a 5 minute trip with the City Rail from our hotel at Danmarksplass, and you&#8217;ll arrive at Wergeland. The café is actually located inside an old tram kiosk from 1928. 



They serve everything from delicious pastries to pies, toast and soups. If you are looking for some refreshing beverage you can also enjoy a cold glass of wine, a local beer from 7 Fjell Brewery, coffee or even lemonades!

Cafe Ambrosia

Keen on oysters or pizza? As a guest at Citybox, you can get a 10% discount on food at Hoggorm. The restaurant is located in the same building as the hotel and is open until late. Did we mention that they have the best pizzas in town?

Located in the city centre of Bergen, Røyk is the perfect choice for all the meat lovers out there. The restaurant serves American BBQ accompanied by a wide selection of beers that goes hand in hand with the food. While you are enjoying your stay at Citybox you can also enjoy a smoky meal at a 10% discount. All you have to do is show your keycard!



On the second floor you can find the poorly hidden cocktail bar, Kråken. The big selection of drinks guarantees that you never have to drink the same cocktail twice. Unless you want to, of course.

Breakfast is not included. Coffee and snacks can be purchased at the vending machines in the lobby. We also have a guest kitchen equipped with a microwave oven, toasters and kettles, so you are able to prepare your own breakfast. You are also welcome to buy breakfast at the restaurant connected to our lobby.

We may be budget-friendly, but we don’t skimp on the essentials! Leave your towels and sheets at home; we’ve got you covered.

Should I bring my own sheets? 

At Citybox Hotels, we believe in making sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. That’s why all our rooms are equipped with a comfy bed, a desk and chair, and a modern bathroom with soap, shampoo, and a hairdryer. Some of the rooms also have a small seating area for you to kick back and relax and make yourself at home.

What does my room include?

They are amazing, right? We get our beds from <a href="http://www.hildinganders.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.hildinganders.com</a> which usually only delivers to hotels. However, they carry different brands, and the Jensen bed would be equivalent to the beds we have at the hotel.

Where are the beds from?

We have free Wi-Fi for all our guests; no secret codes or passwords are required! Just connect and surf away.

Does your hotel have Wi-Fi?

Cleaning will be done on the departure of the guest(s) but not during short stays unless cleaning has specifically been booked and paid for by the guest(s). During longer stays, the rooms will be cleaned once a week.

Does my room get cleaned every day?

We gladly accept Visa and Mastercard as payment options both on our website and in the hotels. For prepaid bookings we also offer Apple Pay. 



We do not accept American Express as a payment option, but we do accept it as a guarantee on our website. 



Cash payment is accepted across all of our hotels, but you need a valid credit or debit card as a guarantee. This card doesn&#8217;t get charged (unless something unexpected happens); It&#8217;s primarily intended for security reasons.

Which payment options do you accept?

Yes! Our luggage storage is open for all guests before check-in and after check-out. Just ask our hosts at the hotel, and they will help you out!

Can I store my luggage at the hotel?

Our hotel room doors take up to 60 seconds to lock automatically due to safety reasons. All hotels in Norway have a special regulation for this. But don’t worry, if you’re in a hurry, tap your key card on the door, and it will lock right away.

How do I lock my door?

First off; we are super happy that you’d like to book a stay with us! Unfortunately, you must be over 18 years old to check into Citybox without supervision. But don’t worry; we’ll be here waiting for you!&nbsp;

How old do I have to be to stay with you?

After you book your stay, you will receive a booking confirmation, including a booking number. When you check in, type in your booking number on our check-in terminal, make your payment, and you will receive your key card and room number.



When checking out, type in your room number, and leave your key card in the box next to the terminal.



If you need any assistance, ask one of our hosts!

How do I check in and out?

If you need to wash your clothes, there is a laundromat located on the second floor. Laundry detergent is included in the price and goes into the machine automatically. The price for one wash is NOK 50,- and so is one round in the dryer. We accept card payments only.

Does your hotel have a laundry room?

Short answer: No. However, TVs can be found in the common room on the ground floor. We have free (and fast) Wi-Fi so that you can stream Netflix in your room on your laptop or iPad!

Unfortunately, we don’t have our own parking facilities, but there are plenty of parking options nearby:
